Ruby
From Foster Mom: RUBY is an amazing dog. She is around 55 lbs and a little over a year old. She was taken from her owners when she was only a puppy because the owners were dog fighting. Ruby was too young to have fought but b/c she was involved in a cruelty case, she has lived her whole life in animal control She is now just a year old and finally out of animal control and ready for a new life with a loving forever family.
RUBY loves everybody she meets. Shes an incredibly loyal dog and will just stare right in your eyes and melt your heart. She loves to cuddle Ruby has a lot of energy and would do great with kids or in an active household where she can play outside and go for walks.
Ruby does not do well with smaller dogs, female dogs, or cats. She do best as an only dog or with a larger male dog.
Ruby has never been trained and has a lot of energy. We are very lucky to have someone who is willing to sponsor Ruby for two whole weeks of intense in house training with a very
skilled local dog trainer, Byron Haygood of B. Good Dog Behavior Modification. She will go into training as soon as she finds a foster home or permanent home.
Ruby is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered. Please consider making Ruby, the smiling dog, a part of your family. Contact me Lauren 404-372-3408 or email at LMcKnight1@gmail.com
Casper
From Foster Mom: Casper was abandoned in Oconee County, starving and with many of his whiskers burned off. Despite being neglected and abused, he has the sweetest personality. After a rough life, we want to find him the loving home that he deserves.
Casper is a healthy cat except for having FIV. He needs an indoor-only home with no other cats or a home with another FIV kitty. FIV kitties can live long, fulfilling lives when kept indoors. FIV is not contagious to people or dogs, just cats.
He is very loving and gentle and is longing to live the rest of his days with a family that loves him. He is a very calm cat and would be a great lap cat and companion. Please call Julie at 662-816-5600 or Diane at 706-207-4658
Sawyer
From Foster Mom: Sawyer is looking for that special family that will take a chance on him, and give him the life he deserves. After being neglected and dumped on the side of the road, he is now very scared of the people around him. It takes him about a week to trust you, and once he does, he's yours forever. He will follow you around until you give him the attention and love he wants. We guess him to be some kind of spaniel mix, and he only weighs around 15 pounds. Because of his previous neglect, he is currently being vetted for a few issues he has physically. He has "cherry eyes" that have never been corrected, but he will receive surgery for that after he gets neutered. He also has a cyst on his side from a previous injury that has built up scar tissue.
He will "snap" when cornered or scared (like at the vet's office)... but once he trusts you, he will allow you to do anything (check his teeth, give him medicine, etc). He has not actually bitten anyone, but I believe he would have bitten the vet if given the chance. Because of this, he will need to be watched carefully around small children. If you or someone you know, is looking for a dog that may not be "perfect" or the inside or outside, but will cherish the new life you give him.. Please consider Sawyer.

Lady
From Foster Parents: Lady was found wandering through downtown Winder a few weeks ago. When found, she was extremely underweight, but was otherwise given a clean bill of health. On that day she was taken to the vet, and with no knowledge of her medical history she was given all vaccinations (rabies, parvo, kennel cough, etc.), she was dewormed, tested negative for heartworms, and was given a bath. The vet could not determine her age other than that she was an adult, and he could not confirm whether or not she had been spayed. He said it would have taken 3 weeks with little to no food to get down to the weight she was at, so she was most likely abandoned by her owner.
Lady appears to be a pit bull mix of some sort. She has a healthy coat and no visible scars. The person who originally took her home has decided she cannot keep her, so I will be fostering her here in Athens until she finds a permanent home. The person she is currently staying with reports that Lady is good with children and other dogs, and that she will most likely want to spend a
lot of time outdoors. She is a very sweet girl. She may be a little food aggressive, which would need to be addressed. She is housebroken. Lady will make a great dog that will be very loyal and will want to have lots of fun outdoors.
Any interested parties would be asked to make a $20 donation to feed Lady, and they would need to have an in-home visit both at our house and the prospective adopter's house.

Harley
From Foster Mom: Harley is an adorable male Chi/Dachshund Mix that weighs 12 pounds. He was rescued from a high-kill shelter on his last day. We are still learning about him and his personality. He is very sweet and loving, wanting to be in your lap... but he does get scared easily in new situations or around new people. He has "snapped" when he feels cornered or during vet procedures out of fear, so because of this he would not be good for a home with small children. He needs a family that will be patient with him. He likes to stick by you... doesn't "run off". He is completely vetted. If you are interested email Angel at angel.pugh@gmail.com.
Samantha
From Owner: Miss Samantha is a corgi collie mix. She weighs around 40-50lbs right now but is a little over weight in my own opinion. She is roughly 6 years old. She responds well to her name, knows "sit", and is house trained for periods of at least 9 hours. Sometimes she'll play with toys but not a lot. She does very good on a leash. She will bark when someone comes to the door or at the fence if there are animals on the other side. She does get on furniture when she is invited. She gets along well with other cats and dogs most of the time but sometimes can be a little snippy when I take her to the dog park. She doesn’t really play with other dogs and really prefers just to sit by your side. She has been excellent around my 3 month old daughter and my 4 year old nephew. She does very well in car rides.
She is up to date on her rabies shot but I do need to get her latest distemper parvo vaccination. She has been fixed. She has not been heartworm tested. She gets frontline every month. She is currently eating Pedigree brand dog food. She currently has some sort of allergy as she insists on biting at the top of her tail/hide area. I have bathed her with special dog shampoo that I got from the vet last year when I had the same problem. I will
make an appointment this week for her to go to the vet to get her current vaccinations and will make sure the skin irritation/allergy doesn’t need any extra attention. If you can think of any more questions please feel free to ask.
She has always been a great dog. I also have a sturdy black wire mesh style crate that can go with her. Sometimes she likes to sleep in it. I just want to make sure that she goes to a caring home. If for some reason someone is not happy with her I will gladly take her back no questions asked. I'm not sure what the fees for adopting a dog are but I would be willing to help with the financial costs of finding her a new home or paying the new owners adoption fee if you think it would help. She is the most behaved and mannered out of my 3 dogs. If you think it would help her chances of finding a loving home if I had her heartworm tested and micro chipped please let me know and I will try to get these done as well. If you are interested please email: David.Pope@pepsico.com or libertybelle@gmail.com.
Wampa
From Foster Mom: Wampa, named after the yeti in Star Wars Episode V, is a giant cuddle bear. He is 1-1/2 to 2 yrs old neutered male and is up-to-date on all vaccinations. Wampa was pulled from animal control and tested positive for heartworms. He has been treated and is making a complete and uncomplicated recovery. Not sure what sort of mix he is, but my best guess is any combination of Husky, Malamute, Chow (blue and red tounge), and German Shep. He is not very high energy and gets hot quickly so short walks are best for him. He loves to follow people around the house and is always watching you.
He does great with children, and curiously watches as they squeal. He would not do well in a house with small creatures (tiny dogs, cats, ferrets, ect) as he does have a significant prey drive. He also does not like unfamiliar dogs, although he would do best with a canine companion. He would need to be properly introduced to any dogs that will be recurring in his life. He doesn't sing unless he is alone or has to go potty, and is overall a quiet dog. Wampa has been fostered for 7 months, and is now housetrained and knows basic obedience commands along with "shake" and "give me a hug". Wampa will have an adoption fee to help offset the cost of his heartworm treatment. Please call emily at 4784574641 or email emilyhollomon@gmail.com
Georgia Girl
From Foster Mom: FABULOUS DOG!!! At 35 lbs and under 2 years old, I can't say enough good things about this petite little girl. She is very intelligent, super sweet and of course adorable with those ears!! She is very laid back, great with kids and other dogs and housetrained-she is a very easy keeper! Unfortunately the first part of her life was not the greatest. Found as a stray, she was eeking out a living on the fringes of human life. She was unwanted but still managed to survive. She is looking forward to the next phase of her life in which people love and care for her. She will make an excellent life partner. Could you be her special someone? Georgie is spayed and UTD on all vet work. For more information contact her foster Mom, Kelly @ 706-549-9030 or email: kellygnoonan@hotmail.com
Sawyer
From Animal Hospital where he is: He was owner-surrendered to us on 5/21/2010. He tested positive for parvo, hookworms, and whipworms and the owner did not have the funds for treatment. The 1st time we saw him was in February of this year; he had been attacked (per the owner) just a few minutes prior to him coming to us and the owner had only had him for a few weeks at that point. We repaired his leg and he made a full recovery. He came in later for coughing and tested negative for heartworms so we treated for kennel cough.
He is the perkiest parvo positive dog I've ever seen. He's eating and drinking now and taking oral medications. There's no vomiting and no diarrhea. We're currently looking for donations for him, for a rescue group to take him in, and/or for someone to take him home and love him forever. One of our technicians is working on a history to accompany him to tell his story. We can send that to you once she's had it finished.
We had him outside earlier to meet our clinic cat, Dodger, and he tried to chase her. He tried to chase her yesterday too. He's not growling or barking at her or trying to be aggressive (from what it looks like) but he does try to chase her. We have not observed him around any other dogs other than the ones that have come into the clinic walked past him when we had him in isolation. He doesn't seem like he would be dog aggressive but he does still need to be neutered. Unfortunately, with the parvo we can't really introduce him to other dogs right now. Please call or email us back if you have any questions.

Galaxy and Zander
From Owners: I'm getting married on June 19 and my fiancé has a severe cat allergy. Thus, I must bid farewell to my gorgeous feline friends: two friendly, cuddly, black cats, Galaxy and Xander. These two are extremely social - they love people - and prefer to sit in laps or next to their "family" on the sofa. They're litter trained, well-behaved, and indoor-only. They've not spent any time outdoors, so I wouldn't feel comfortable letting them outside. If possible, I'd like to keep them together, although I think they'd be okay in separate homes. (They are updated on all shots, etc) I am quite sad that I must let them go, but I want to find them a happy home, or homes.
If you, or someone that you know, loves cats (especially the cuddly kind), and you have room in your home and heart,
send me a message: kplace@gmail.com
Buster Brown & Stubby
From Owners: Sgt. Stubby (the black and white pup) and Buster Brown wandered up to Missy and Hope's house. Very skinny, scared and hungry for food and attention. They are brothers and about 12-14 weeks old. Up to date on their shots and will be neutered soon. They like my kitties and play well with the other five dogs (all big) well. Sgt. Stubby has taught himself how to use the dog door, Buster on the other hand thinks everyone was placed here to serve him so he doesn't mind waiting for you to open the door for him. Sgt. Stubby is curious about everything while Buster is content letting Sgt. Stubby check things out first. There is an adoption fee and home visit along with vet referrences. If you would like to meet
either of them please Call Missy at 770-891-1074.
Ashley & Coco
From Owners: We have recently had a baby and, sadly, must reduce our pet number (4) because we are not able to give them the attention they need and deserve. Coco and Ashley came to us from a Beagle rescue group in Atlanta. They were puppy mill rescues. They are about 6 years old, are spayed and current on their shots. They have been indoor dogs and should remain that way. A fenced in yard for safe outdoor activity is a must.
The adoption agency we adopted from will require the new adopter to complete an application so that the adoption agency can know where the dogs will be located. It would be great if the beagles could be adopted together as they have been together for a long time. But
if not, here are some observations about each.
Ashley
We think that Ashley will do better as an only dog or with another dog that will just give her some space. She likes one on one time with her humans and likes to just lounge around.
Coco
Coco would do well by herself or as a companion to another friendly dog. Please call 706-369-5324 or 706-201-1750
Amber
From owners: Amber is a 2 and ½ year old Pit Bull Mix and has lived with us for a year and a half. She is very loving and affectionate and enjoys being the center of attention. She has learned “sit” and “wait” and will wait for a release word for her food and is completely house trained. We have a 9 month old child and Amber is very good with him but finding “sharing attention” difficult. Amber gets on very well with our other dog (Lab/Pit mix) but shows signs that she prefers to be the dominant dog.
Amber loves playing fetch with her toys and long walks; she is very good on her leash. Amber attends Pawtropolis on a regular basis and is a well loved member of their pack. Amber would be well suited to a family with older children
or person with a lot of time to lavish her with affection – preferably as an only dog. Current on all vaccinations and heartworm + flea medications. Micro-chipped and comes with a crate and bowls, if wanted. Please contact Jason or Suzi 678-661-0130 for further information or to set up a visit.
Chloe
From Foster Home: Chloe is a beautiful tabby-calico mix, who needs a great forever home as soon as possible . She is between 1 ½ and 2 years old, spayed, has had her shots, and is negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia. I rescued Chloe a few months ago from an apartment complex, where she had been abandoned by a tenant, along with 2 other mothers and a total of 9 kittens. When I rescued her, she was very skinny, but managed to keep her 4 kittens fed, and they now have great new homes, and she has gained weight, going from 5 pounds to around 7 pounds now.
Miraculously, I managed to find new homes for all 12 cats, but unfortunately Chloe's new home has not worked out, because she is living with a very hyper Yorkshire Terrier, who keeps harassing her, so she is hiding in a bathroom all the time. Obviously, this is not much of a life, and I am anxious to find her a new home as soon as possible. I think she'd do best as an only pet or with a laid-back, non-aggressive dog or cat. She is a bit shy after all she has been through, but she soon warms up and loves affection. She really is a sweetie and deserves a great home. I have attached a couple of photos. Please contact Deborah Stanley at dstanley@uga.edu or 706 548 8486 if you are interested in meeting Chloe
Peaches and Mary Grace
The short haired one is Peaches, long hair is Mary Grace (goes by Gracie). They are sisters, found as kittens at a church in Colbert, GA. Dr Fred Jackson and his wife took them in and had them until they moved to California 2 years ago (Dr Fred was our medical director at VistaCare). We at the office agreed to take them in and they have been with us ever since.
The time has come for us to find them new homes and it is our hope that we will find someone that would be willing to take them both as they have been together their entire lives. Peaches personality is laid back, loves to be around people. Gracie is the more skittish one but does attach herself to certain folks. They cannot go to a house with dogs....I feel sure other cats would be okay. Both of their vaccinations are up to date. We have been taking them to Firehall 4. Gracie had to have surgery about a year ago for a really bad bladder infection and received "kitty xanax" daily
rubbed on the inside of her ear to keep her bladder calm. Both have settled nicely into the routine and are doing great.
Their routine yearly stuff is due in February. They are 5-6 years old. We feed them a special diet to decrease the occurrence of UTIs, Peaches has never been to the vet since we have had her except for her routine stuff. They like fresh air but are not outside cats. They would enjoy a home with a screened in back porch. They come with their beds, liter boxes, left over litter, food, etc. Their scratching pole is pretty worn out. They aren't very playful as they prefer just laying around.
If interesteed call
706 369 9888 from 8-5 Mon thru Fri ask for Debbie.
Token
Token belongs to a client of Pawtropolis who is no longer able to keep him. He is 9 years old and is a husky/corgi mix. He really looks like a white german shepherd on short legs but it is confirmed that mom was a husky. Token is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. Token is good with children, cats and basically anyone he meets. He enjoys the company of other dogs and does well in the daycare at Pawtropolis. Token is already housetrained and enjoys staying near his person. He sleeps on a blanket near his owner's bed. For more information contact Ms. Moore at 678-234-3416.
